Independent fractional CTO / senior advisor role for startups (Series A-C, 10-100 people) seeking real infrastructure improvements. 20-30 hours per week. Based in Fremont, CA; remote work available for US-based teams; not willing to relocate. Candidate profile: 30 years building infrastructure at CMU, Microsoft Research, Google; expertise in distributed systems, database architecture, F1/Spanner, infrastructure scaling, and technical debt triage. Focus on preventing outages, scalable patterns, and sustainable tech debt management.
