Terms of Service

Last Updated: 4 July 2025

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Parklife, Inc. ("Parklife," "we," "our," or "us"). They govern your access to and use of Hacker Careers located at https://www.hacker-careers.com and any related sub-domains, services, or applications that link to these Terms (collectively, the "Platform").

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Platform.

Note: Other Parklife products may publish their own terms or policies. If they conflict with these Terms, the specific product terms control for that product.

1. Eligibility & Acceptance

  • Age requirement. The Platform is intended exclusively for individuals aged 18 or older. By using the Platform, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity.
  • Authority. If you use the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
  • Acceptance. You accept these Terms when you create an account, click an "I Agree" button, purchase a paid listing, or otherwise use any part of the Platform.

2. Changes to the Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified by email or in-product message. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

3. Accounts & Security

  • Registration. Some features require an account. Provide accurate, current information and keep it updated.
  • Credentials. You are responsible for safeguarding your password, magic-link email, and OAuth credentials, and for all activity under your account.
  • Deletion. You may delete your account at any time via account settings. Residual statutory data may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Content & Intellectual Property

4.1 Platform Content

Much of the content on Hacker Careers—such as job postings sourced from Hacker News and other public channels—is third-party content provided "as is." Hacker Careers does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continued availability of any job posting or third-party content. We may modify or remove content at any time without notice.

4.2 User-Generated Content (“UGC”)

By uploading, posting, or submitting UGC (including résumés, notes, company profiles, and job ads), you grant Parklife a world-wide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable licence to use, host, reproduce, modify, publish, display, distribute, and promote that UGC for the purpose of operating and marketing the Platform.

You represent that you own or otherwise have the rights to your UGC, and that it does not violate any law or third-party right. You acknowledge that:

  • Job postings must not be fraudulent, misleading, or discriminatory, and must comply with all applicable employment laws and advertising standards in the jurisdictions where the role is offered or visible.
  • We may remove or disable access to any UGC at our sole discretion. Every listing includes a "Flag" feature enabling anyone to report problematic content.

5. Paid Job Listings & Refunds

  • Fees. Employers may purchase premium job listings or other paid services. Prices, listing durations, and visibility tiers are described at the point of purchase and may change at any time before purchase.
  • Payment processor. All payments are processed by Stripe. Your use of Stripe is subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.
  • Refund policy. Except where prohibited by law or stated otherwise at checkout, payments are non-refundable. However, Parklife may issue a refund at its sole discretion under reasonable circumstances (e.g., duplicate payment, accidental purchase).

6. Prohibited Conduct

  1. Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  2. Post unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, or discriminatory job ads or content.
  3. Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
  4. Harass, threaten, or abuse other Users.
  5. Send unsolicited or off-platform commercial messages or spam to job-seekers or employers.
  6. Upload viruses, malware, or any code intended to harm or disrupt the Platform.
  7. Interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or network.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts or remove content for violating these rules or for any behaviour we deem harmful.

7. Third-Party Services & Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party sites and services. We are not responsible for those third parties; your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT (INCLUDING THIRD-PARTY JOB POSTINGS) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. PARKLIFE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OF LISTINGS. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARKLIFE AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR (i) INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES OR (ii) TOTAL DAMAGES EXCEEDING US $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM—WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Parklife and its affiliates from any claim arising out of (a) your UGC, (b) your breach of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.

11. Dispute Resolution — Binding Arbitration & Class-Action Waiver

  1. Informal Resolution. Contact hello@hacker-careers.com first so we can try to resolve the dispute informally within 60 days.
  2. Arbitration Agreement. If unresolved, either party may require that the dispute be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
  3. Location & Law. Arbitration will take place in Wilmington, Delaware (or remotely) and apply Delaware law.
  4. Class-Action Waiver. Disputes must proceed on an individual basis. Class, collective, or representative actions are not permitted.
  5. Opt-Out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by mailing written notice to the address in § 14 within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms—and any non-arbitrable dispute—are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Subject to § 11, the courts in New Castle County, Delaware, have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Termination

Parklife may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

14. Notices

Legal notices must be sent to:

Parklife, Inc.

or via email to hello@hacker-careers.com.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Parklife regarding the Platform.
  • Severability. If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • Assignment. Parklife may assign these Terms; you may not assign them without our prior written consent.
  • No Waiver. Failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of future enforcement.
