About Hacker Careers
What is Hacker Careers?
Hacker Careers is a job board built on top of Hacker News "Who's Hiring" threads — one of the most trusted sources for tech jobs on the internet. Every month, hundreds of companies post directly in these threads looking for engineers, designers, and other technical talent. We index, parse, and organize all of those listings into a searchable, filterable job board.
Why is it different?
The jobs here come straight from founders, CTOs, and hiring managers — not recruiters or job aggregators. When someone posts in a "Who's Hiring" thread, they're putting their company's reputation on the line in front of the HN community. That means higher-quality listings and real opportunities at companies that value technical talent.
Unlike traditional job boards that charge thousands per listing, Hacker Careers focuses on surfacing the best roles from the community first. No spam, no ghost listings, no recruiter farms.
How does it work?
Our pipeline runs automatically each month:
- Scrape — We pull new comments from the latest "Who's Hiring" thread on Hacker News.
- Parse — AI extracts structured data from each comment: job title, company, location, salary, tech stack, remote policy, and more.
- Enrich — We match companies, generate embeddings for semantic search, and tag listings with technologies.
- Search — You search by keyword, tech stack, location, or just browse. Vector search finds relevant roles even when you don't use the exact right keywords.
