iOS Developer
About SKIES
SKIES (Visual Choices AAC) is a Pasadena-based company building assistive communication apps. Visual Play, funded by an NIH SBIR award, aims to help clinicians deliver play-based interventions for minimally verbal autistic children.
Job Description
You would build Visual Play, an app that helps clinicians deliver the Kasari Lab's play-based intervention with autistic children. You’ll be embedded in the UCLA Kasari Lab from day one, paired with an implementation lead who spends their weeks with clinicians, and you’ll own the app end to end. This is a six-month Phase I NIH SBIR-funded project for SKIES (Visual Choices AAC). In person at UCLA, five days a week, starting January 2027. The interview includes a 60-minute collaborative coding session with no AI assistants. Ideal candidate: has shipped real native iOS apps; comfortable taking feedback from researchers and clinicians; uses AI as a force multiplier but writes and maintains the code themselves; builds large, complex, yet maintainable systems; resourceful, motivated, tenacious; calm, respectful presence in a research lab.Loading...
